Tano Trust leads a different kind of development assistance - with a focus on very disadvantaged children and young people in the coastal town of Bagamoyo in Tanzania
Tano Trust is a Norwegian organization that in partnership with Moyo Mmoja Trust in Tanzania, develops and manages development projects with special focus on abandoned and other particularly disadvantaged children and vulnerable families. We assist children and young people on their way out of extreme poverty!
The Moyo Mmoja Family Home's in Bagamoyo gives completely abandoned children a new start on life in a safe family home (arranged foster care - the right alternative to traditional orphanages) in which they grow up in a family with their new mothers, siblings, responsible males.
Since these children do not have the safety net of family and relatives traditionally in Tanzania attaches great importance to give them the best possible new start on life. Kiromo project assists highly disadvantaged children and young people with extremely resource monitoring guardians in agricultural areas outside of Bagamoyo. This is done by securing diet and Health for the entire household, as well as education and general supervision for the children. The project also provides poor Tanzanian farmers in Bagamoyo district assistance to improve their life through contributions to the development of its agriculture or other small-scale production. Moyo Mmoja School and Training Program is a newly established education and training project in Bagamoyo that primarily focuses on aid for disadvantaged girls and young women with children or who are in livsituasjon where they may have children at a very young age.
The program includes customized education / training craft, easy business, as well as supervision and counseling. Furthermore, given the teaching of appropriate social and health related topics. The project focuses also on preventive measures and also includes other disadvantaged young girls and boys both need and want education and follow-up.
