In Bagamoyo driver Moyo Mmoja a cozy little guesthouse for the benefit of the organization's work.
- Tano Trusts sponsors, s tøttespillere and other travelers to Bagamoyo are very welcome!
The uniqueness of Moyo Mmoja guesthouse is a good mix of Tanzanian atmosphere and western standards of hygiene, nutrition, safety, and private rooms. Do you want to visit Tanzania to experience the Swahili culture and see how ordinary people live, but do not want to "penetrate up" or feel uncomfortable, then a stay at Moyo Mmoja's guesthouse a golden opportunity.
The guest house is open to all and many people from Europe, USA, Israel and Japan, living there for shorter or longer periods. This is often the students, pro-sjektarbeidere, nursing students, backpackers and other tourists. A big advantage is that the house has a good kitchen where you can cook your own food that you buy on the market and the small shops. If you want to eat out is the staff (- which quickly becomes one's friends -) that can show you the best small places serving local food and hotels along the beach.
Guest Homes not located on a small hill about airy. 5 min from the center of Bagamoyo. In addition to the main house has three bedrooms with double beds, two bathrooms, kitchen, living room and veranda, there is a small house with two cozy bedrooms with double beds and a shared kitchen and bathroom. The guesthouse also has a small, fun and friendly traditional cottage with a double bed that many people enjoy very much. We at Tano Trust, Norway, also live in the guest house even when we are in Tanzania. The cost is + / - 80 NOK per night depending on room type, number of people in the room and length of stay. We can also arrange for pickup at the airport or elsewhere in Dar es Salaam.
Bagamoyo is a quiet, medium-sized town with historic roots. There was a time utskipsbyen for slaves who were deported, first to Zanzibar and then to the Middle East and India. There is a museum located in Bagamoyo at the Catholic mission hospital and there are memorials from both Stanley and Livingstone. It was from Bagamoyo they traveled across the country to "discover" Africa and to find the Nile's source. Bagamoyo was the rest of the capital of the colonial German East Africa and many buildings still exist from that time. Otherwise, Bagamoyo a looong beautiful sandy beach (with and without the fancy hotels).
The guest house is an income-generating activities that give good shillings in the case of Moyo Mmoja. This is important for the experience of generating income for themselves and thus become less dependent on external support from us in the Tano Trust Norway. Guesthouse operation also provides a good knowledge of administrative practices and small-scale business development principles.
Guesthouse operation also allows for Norwegians and others to visit Bagamoyo and see the needs and how we help. This provides more closeness and openness about our projects, which are important in the development industry that gets a lot of criticism for that money does not reach those who need it. We can show that it does! People who have visited has also sponsored the construction of the 3rd family home, the purchase of cows and support to Kiromo project construction of housing for homeless families.
NB! Respect for family peace!
Mentors and others who want to see Moyo Mmoja projects in practice must first contact Tano Trust. Only then will it be possible to visit family homes and see the various projects. Preferably, the visitor will only happen with one of Tano Trusts participants if we are present. It is important to respect the family home and other homes in the projects and private homes. With this, we want to point out and hopefully influence the tendency of "affliction sightseeing" as found among Western tourists - and many smaller, local organizations and institutions unfortunately feel compelled to accept because of the revenue it often entails.

Hello! Have you been in Bagamoyo and visited our guest so please leave a message and tell others about the place! Greetings from Olav
I stayed three months in the guest house of Moyo Mmoja in 2011 and I can recommend it strongly. I had a very nice stay in Bagamoyo and felt immediately at home with Moyo Mmoja. It was my first time in Tanzania, but I was welcomed wherever I went. Moyo Mmoja is a homely, authentic and affordable housing option when you come to Bagamoyo. You can cook your own food, relax in the beautiful surroundings both inside the common room, on the roof or out in the garden. You can search for books in your own language, as previous guests have left, or look at pictures they have hanging on the wall of their fine moments in Bagamoyo. And not least, you can learn a little Swahili by a chat with the nice people who work for Moyo Mmoja. I hope at least I get the chance to come back! Thank you!
